从理论走向辉煌
跟许许多多的企业一样，RJG的故事源于一个需要得到解决的问题。
上个世纪六十年代，Rod Groleau是通用汽车公司交流火花塞部门的一名合作学生。 当时，汽车上的注塑仪表板与桌子一般宽大。 您一定能想象得到，这是一个问题。 一个大问题。 其中运行着大量尺寸各异的零部件。 事实上，这些零部件的尺寸差异是如此之大，以至于其中一部分根本无法装进车内，更不用说去装配线上喷漆了。 这造成了大量废品、返工及停机。 Rod工程论文的工作就是确定工艺过程中的哪些变量能够得到监控和控制，以降低这种不一致性。
Rod日复一日地试图准确了解工艺过程中所发生的一切。 他做了无数次测试，其中包括有关工艺变量与零件尺寸间关系的深入统计分析。 仔细用手在发黄的图表纸上画出每个数据点。 研究机器内部和外部的工作原理。 不知疲倦地工作着，试图找到一个能够标准化的、实现注塑成型工艺可预测性的方法。
他终于成功了。 一个火花闪现出来。 一个想法将成长为一个概念、一个计划、一个全球性标准：真正的工艺发生在模具内部，模具内部测得的压力能够最好地预测零件的尺寸。
他需要一个不同的视角。 一个全新的视角。 一个来自野兽腹部深处的视角。 根据模具内部的数据，他可以准确了解是什么在发生变化，并确定如何使工艺恢复正常。 由于没有哪个公司提供适合模具内部环境的传感器，他为自己造出了一双崭新的眼睛：一种适用于注塑成型工艺的型腔压力传感器。
实际工艺过程中的数据证明，零件尺寸事实上是可预测的。 Rod还发现，零件的大部分变化是由正常的材料变化引起的， 而这些变化现在能够很轻松地通过模具内传感器进行检测与补偿。
感觉象是一种永恒，Rod扑在打字机上拼命地敲打着键盘。 思绪飞驰，许许多多的想法从指尖喷涌而出。 最后，终于完成了：他的论文，名为“注塑件尺寸控制报告”。 这份报告不仅解决了通用汽车的问题，也燃起了Rod共同创办一家名为Control Process, Inc.（控制工艺公司）的公司。通过这家公司，他成功将注塑成型工业的第一只型腔压力传感器商业化。
在历经了十六年、两个公司以及无数个潜心研究的日日夜夜，RJG诞生了。
